Building Community, Building Citizenship, Part 2

Citizenship 1Deirdre Routt and Anna Wilcoxon created a citizenship resources list during their research on Pilot Project 2. Their list includes citizenship classes, ESL (English as Second Language) classes, legal assistance/workshops, and citizenship tutoring in the Omaha area. Each entry includes –

  • Agency with contact information
  • Class Location
  • Website
  • Resources
  • Class Hours
  • Level of Offering (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, 1-on-1 Tutoring, etc.)
  • Clientele
  • Cost

This list is currently being used by OPL’s New American Task Force. It is also available to the public at http://guides.omahalibrary.org/citizenshipforrefugees. Click Citizenship Resources in Omaha under the Omaha Citizenship Resources text box on the right hand side of the page. You can also download the PDF file here
.

We think a similar list could be adapted to any community.
