Center for Public Affairs Research

The Center for Public Affairs Research is a research and community outreach unit of the UNO [University of Nebraska Omaha] College of Public Affairs and Community Service.  Survey research support is a key component of CPAR’s mission.

CPAR is also the lead agency for the Nebraska State Data Center Program.  This program is a cooperative program between the U.S. Census Bureau and individual states.  Our relationship has resulted in CPAR taking an active role in analyzing and disseminating information from the 1990, 2000, and 2010 Censuses. Other core programs include Technical and Training Assistance and the Consortium for Organizational Research and Evaluation (CORE).  Our annual Data Users Conference is held in August.

CPAR was awarded the 2006-2007 Chancellor’s Strategic Planning Award for Community Engagement.  CPAR staff also directed additional programs that have received the Chancellors’ Strategic Planning Award for Community Engagement: Neighborhood Center‘s Graffiti Scan Program (2009-2010, Russell Smith) and Nebraska Municipal Clerk Institute & Academy (2010-2011, Melanie Kiper).
